East Coast Embroidery's heat press transfer process

Heat Press Transfers in Rhode Island

The fastest path to full-color, photo-quality graphics — and the most practical choice for small runs, single items, or names and numbers that change from person to person.

What Is Heat Press Transfer Decoration?

Short answer: a design is printed onto a special transfer material, then applied to the garment with heat and pressure — no screens, no digitizing, which makes it fast and practical for small quantities.

Because there's no per-color screen setup like screen printing and no per-stitch digitizing like embroidery, heat press transfers are the most efficient way to produce full-color, detailed graphics in small quantities — including designs that would be impractical or expensive to reproduce any other way.

How Our Heat Press Process Works

  1. Design & transfer prep. Your artwork is printed onto transfer material, including individual names or numbers if needed.
  2. Garment prep. Garments are prepped and positioned for accurate placement.
  3. Heat press application. Heat and pressure bond the transfer to the fabric.
  4. Cool peel & check. The transfer is peeled once cooled and checked for quality before it ships or is ready for pickup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between heat press transfer and screen printing?
Screen printing is more cost-effective at higher quantities with fewer colors. Heat press transfer is better for small runs, full-color detailed graphics, or designs that vary piece to piece, like individual names and numbers.
Can transfers go on any fabric?
Most cotton and cotton-blend garments work well. Tell us your garment and we'll confirm it's a good fit.
What's the minimum order?
6 pieces per design placement per run — though heat press is often the most practical method specifically because it handles small and single-item runs well within that minimum.
